About Us

 

Over 40 years ago, Ken Paulan Sr, decided to leave Sim's Motor Transport Lines, a company he worked at since a boy. He began dispatching at night and later working his way up to Vice President of Sim's - a massive truck line in business since 1932.
 
In 1980, President Jimmy Carter deregulated the trucking industry by signing "The Motor Carrier Act of 1980" into legislation.  By doing so, more carriers were given operating authority and Ken was able to create Steel Transport, Inc.

Today, Steel Transport, Inc. is a premier Midwestern flatbed carrier located in Gary, IN providing safe, reliable and timely deliveries for our customers. A family owned and operated business where all employees, drivers and customers are treated like family.
